What you get
A plan, not an essay
A working thesis, an introduction, three to five body paragraphs with their main points and the kind of evidence to use, and a conclusion.
Built from your notes
Paste your notes or sources with the assignment and the body paragraphs are built from them. Notedly doesn't make up quotes or citations.
How it works
-
1
Paste the assignment. Paste the essay prompt, your topic or a draft thesis. Add any notes, readings or sources you want the essay to use.
-
2
Generate the outline. Click Generate outline. Notedly writes a working thesis and an outline from the introduction through the conclusion.
-
3
Make it yours. Rework the thesis in your own words, find the evidence each paragraph calls for, then write the essay yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Is the essay outline generator free?
Yes. Your first outline works without an account. After that, a free account includes 10,000 words a month, shared with summaries of readings and YouTube videos. Premium is $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year for 500,000 words a month.
What should I paste?
At least the assignment or your topic. A draft thesis, your class notes or the sources you plan to cite make the outline more specific to your essay. Keep it under 5,000 characters.
Is using an outline generator cheating?
An outline is a plan, and you still research and write the essay. Follow your course's rules on AI use, and cite the sources you actually read, not the outline.
